Welcome to My Motor Officers Page!

Former Motor Unit "222" of Prattville's Finest

I am now a former motor officer, having left law enforcement in 1997. I rode Harleys for three years. In the three years that I rode, I was able to fullfill a life long dream of becoming a Police Motor Officer. Ever since I was old enough to be attracted by the bright chrome, and the thunder of the machines as they patrolled our city, I had wanted to ride as a Police Motorcycle Officer...

I was proud to see that my brother who serves on the Montgomery Police Department. Achieved his dream to ride, and also has attained Instructor Status during his ride of 14 plus years. He now serves in the K-9 Division (another of his dreams).

In 1994, I was given the opportunity to become a Motor Officer while serving in the city of Prattville. I have worn many hats in my 24 years of policing... but the day that I earned my wings, remains the brightest day I shall remember...

I have shared the wind and road upon two wheels with some of the finest officers... and I dedicate this poem to those who wear the wings... and to those who have fallen... Motor Officers...

Here are some facts about my service, and some of the training pictures that were taken during training. I hope that you enjoy them, and thank you for your patience while waiting for them to load.

In 1994 the city of Prattville ordered 5 brand new Harley Davidson Police Motorcycles. This was the start of the motor division in Prattville... I am sure that the other (original) officers join me in remembering the Honorable Mayor David Whetstone who supported the motorcycle division, and was an avid rider of his own Harley! Mayor Whetstone passed away in 1999 while still serving as Mayor, he will be missed...

Five officers were chosen to attend a very intensive two week training course provided by the Montgomery Police Department Traffic Division. There were many memorable moments during this course. Six officers were sent to attend, only five finished (one was withdrawn due to a bad ankle injury). We were amazed to see the agility and skill that we could demonstrate operating the big Harleys... The Harley's turned out to be the best training bike I have ever seen.

In 1995, J.C. and I were chosen to attend the IPTM Police Motorcycle Instructors School in Jacksonville, Fl. We found the training, and instructors there, to be the best we have seen in our years of service. It was an adventure to say the least... we attended the two week class in Febuary, and it snowed on us as we drove through Clearview, Fl.!!
