A Daughter...

You ask if I could write of you, and I said that I would try,
But how do you put to paper, the beauty of the sky…
I cannot begin to describe the joy, and love you've brought to us,
Or the pride I get from knowing that, your heart to me you trust…

For Daughters are a special gift, sent from far above…
He sent his Son to die for us, and made daughters to show us love.
Daughters should be precious things, and never made to cry…
For every tear that falls from you, a part of us just dies.

Sometimes life is not all fair, and things don't go our way,
But you should know that time moves on, and there are better days…
Like the day you came to us, and our world became complete,
Of all the things that we have known, none have been so sweet.

The pride I see in your Mother's eyes, when she talks of you each day,
The way she worries about your heart, when for short times your away…
Sometimes our love seems tough to you, when we must steer you right,
It hurts us too when you are blue, we hide our tears at night.

How lucky we are to see you grow, from child to womanhood…
To be here when you need us most, and teach you what we should.
To wipe the tears, and calm the fears, that sometimes come your way,
Hold you tight, make all things right, and try to save the day…

There is nothing in this world, that could ever take your place,
Your eyes, your smile, your gentle heart, the love seen in your face…
A Daughter is a special gift, sent to make us smile,
And I've been blessed more than the rest, to share you for awhile…
