Betrayal...

A word we use in stories, of broken trust and hearts...
Of hurt and lies, and gloomy skies, that causes tears to start.
A calculated act of hurt, that makes another cry...
It causes hearts, once full of trust, to stop and just ask why.

Betrayal is a demon spawn, of lies, deceit, and more...
It's been here since the dawn of time, like fog upon the moors.
It lives within the hearts of some, and they hide it very well...
I never would have ever guessed, you'd send my heart to hell.

The words you spoke, betrayed our love, and broke my heart so deep...
There are times, they echo still, but I no longer weep.
And should you come, with sweet soft words, to try and make me weak...
I can look upon your eyes and see, betrayal as you speak.
