Happiness...

"What is happiness?", once she asked, and I said "just close your eyes"...
and think upon a meadow large, and clouds in deep blue skies.
think about the laughter, you hear small children make...
and how your mom would hug you, till you thought your neck would break.

And look upon the flowers, so free beside the road...
they've been here from the beginning, through times that are untold.
And of the creatures that dwell within, the rivers, sky and trees...
Happiness is there with them, when you hear the evening breeze.

And happiness, I've had a lot, and shared with those I've known...
and been through times, that made me cry, but I was not alone.
For happiness dwells with us, it's for us to set it free...
and when we let the love light out, it shines for all to see.

Now open your eyes, and look about, and tell me how you feel...
is there happiness within your heart, and do you believe it's real?
"I've heard the things you've spoke of", she said.  And I've gazed into your eyes...
I've seen through you, such wondrous things, like clouds in deep blue skies.

And now I'll listen for the birds, when they are on the wing...
and know that deep within my heart, I'll find some happy things.

"What is happiness?", once she asked, and I said  "just close your eyes"...
and think of all your love within, and clouds in deep blue skies..
