If the World were fair,
I would never have learned how to fight...
if my heart was never broken,
I would never have known love that was right.
If I had never spoken to
you, then I would never have felt your arms...
If you had never loved
me so, I would never have savored your charms.
If I had never held you,
and looked into your eyes...
then my heart would not
be breaking now, I wouldn't have need to cry.
If you had never spoken
to me, and vowed your love would last...
then I would not be here
alone tonight, still longing for the past.
If I could do it all again,
there are things I would not do...
I would never make your
eyes look sad, and never lie to you.
I will take the memory of
your kiss, and taste it late at night...
and remember how your eyes
would shine, from stars that were so bright.
I will take the things
you've taught me, for there are quite a few...
and use them to make a
life more strong, something I really must do.
If I had never known you,
I would have missed many wonderful things...
like meanings of the long
dark nights, and how simple words can sting.
If I had never learned
from you, how cold a heart can turn...
then I would never have
had the chance, to feel how hearts can yearn.
I will take the memory of
your touch, and feel it late at night...
when the wind blows soft,
the moon is full, and I long to hold you tight.
I will take the things
you've shown me, and keep them close to me...
and think of you, and skies
so blue, when the tears make it hard to see.
If I had never loved you,
perhaps you'd never know...
how fun it is, to laugh
and play, when the sky begins to snow.
The times well spent, on
cool dark nights, the sound of gentle sighs...
the wonder of a newborn
day, as the sun begins to rise.
