"Knight Pain" Poems and Prose by Ron Walker

Knight Pain

"You are my Knight", she would say to me,
And I'd fight all her Demons to keep them at bay..
. Though my body is beaten, and my blood flows like wine,
I hold all her memories, as if they are mine...

Lie down good Knight, your fight is done,
When she left with her love, is the day the demons won...
Your strength was her heart, which she's taken far away,
Lie down good Knight, Tis' the end of your day...

And each night that I return, to our final meeting place,
In my mind, her memory is etched, I see the tears on her face...
were they real, or illusion, I fear I'll never know,
But I know my heart stopped beating, when I turned and watched her go...
I watch when stars fall earthward, and dream of her sweet touch,
But alas, there is no ending, I simply miss her too much...

Cannot her memories spare me, one night to rest my soul?
Nay, that would be too much to ask...
and my heart still beats so cold...
