Her Knight

As a little girl, she had looked for her Knight,
someone to protect her, for her he would fight.
But into her life came heartache and pain,
and she wondered sometimes would she be the same.

Where are the Knights, Oh where have they gone,
Do they only just live in the words of old songs?
Will I ever find the one that's for me...
Oh, where are the Knights, where could they be.

As a girl became woman, and life became hard,
she'd stand in the night, and wish on the stars.
Where is my Knight, Oh God, where could he be...
Am I destined for loneliness, or is there one made for me.

The years drifted past, and she held to her hope,
but at times it would seem, she was at the end of her rope,
And when it was darkest, she'd oft stand and say,
Where is my Knight, is he coming today...

And she raised up her offspring, all by herself,
and most of her dreams were put on a shelf...

But then, on a bright and sun shiny day,
she noticed a man as he was looking her way.
He seemed to care, and called her his friend,
and she hoped, Oh how she hoped, that it wouldn"t end.
She told him of her Knight, and how she waited and prayed,
that one day soon he would come to stay.

And her friend took her hand and looked in her eyes,
said I have arrived, and I hope you're surprised...
Though I don't ride a horse, my hearts still as true,
for a life of your love, I would gladly die for you.

I will fight all your fights, and tend to your needs,
and work for your love, till my tired body bleeds.
Dragons shall bow before your sweet feet,
and all of your demons I swear I'll defeat.

So give me your hand and walk beside me,
and I'll love you forever, this you will see...
Look to the sky again and you will see,
that I'm meant for you, and you're meant for me.

So no more will she cry and pray to the stars,
she found her Good Knight and lies in his arms...
She tells all the world that her prayer has come true,
and hopes from her heart that you find your Knight too...
