Last Testament

You can test my love by doing wrong,
and I will forgive you...
You can test my love by being moody,
and I will understand and love you still...
But to turn away, or do and say hurtful things,
is a message best not ignored...

Nay, I will not lay in your sweet arms,
and partake of your pleasure without love...
Nor shall I ask of you,
that which you do not freely give...
And as the moonlight softly covers the earth
so shines my love for you...
And stormy nights will see me keeping vigil over your sweet memories.

Though this Heart has become a cracked and cold vessel,
it still holds the ashes of a special love...
And I beg Thee, do not mourn for this fool,
for I have caused mourning enough for all...

Yea, though the night has been my friend, hiding tears of sorrow and pain
from loves that I held close to my chest,
it cannot hide me forever from my past...
And I shall dwell there no longer.

Death is no longer to be feared,
but a destiny to which I am resigned...
Death shall find my love still burning,
as the breath leaves this mortal body...
It shall not find me cringing in a corner,
but standing with tears of love, for that which was lost to me.

O, let it not be said that I am a self-pitying fool,
but that I can see clearly, that which I have done...
and there is no atonement for the pains I have wrought.
