Nothing?…

"I have nothing to give you", she said on my Birthday…
I'm not concerned with what you can give, but what you have taken away.

Gone are the nights so empty and cold, and days without a goal…
Gone are years of searching long, to find a kindred soul.
Loneliness that haunted me, when there was naught to do…
Times I spent so all alone, and they were not so few.

I love not for what you give, but what you take away…
So standing here beside you now, it feels so good to say.
I love you not for what you give, but what you are to me…
And when I hold you in my arms, I hope that you can see.
I love you.
