Shine for me…

When it was dark, and I was lost, you were always there for me…
you took my hand, you held my heart, and always helped me see.
When storm clouds began to gather, and the wind would blow so cold…
you were there, you always cared, you were my rock to which I’d hold.

Where are you now, are you far away, or just somewhere I can’t see…
the storm clouds begin to gather, and I need you here with me.
The winds have grown much colder now, and snow is in the air…
I go to places that we loved, but I never find you there.

When you were close for me to hold, and show me what to do…
I came to take for granted, the love that came from you.
I lost your love, one cold dark day, it will haunt me for all time…
a love so pure, a love so sure, like a star, for me, it shined.

So when the stars come out at night, I pretend that I can see…
a special star, a far off star, that shines this night for me.
There are no others that compare, they could never come as close…
as the love you gave, the love I held, the love that meant the most.

Where are you now, are you far away, or just somewhere I can’t see…
the light it dims, and here within, my heart cries out for thee.
My bones feel so much cooler now, I hear music in the air…
I sit here waiting, in our loving place, and wonder if you care.

If forgiveness is not within you, then hate me for all time…
for in that way, I know I’ll stay, somewhere within your mind.
